You will all know by now of the major exhibition of Sèvres sculpture of the eighteenth century taking place at the Sèvres Museum from 16 September 2015 to 18 January 2016, and I urge you not to miss it!
As part of the Parcours de la Céramique, the annual ceramics dealers’ event in Paris, which this year will be on 22-27 September, John Whitehead will be holding an exhibition of Sèvres biscuit porcelain.
This will naturally be smaller than the show at the Sèvres museum. At Sèvres you will be able to see around 120 biscuits, not to mention some 80 of the terracotta models, many of which have been specially restored for the occasion, as well as drawings, plaster models etc.
We shall be showing over fifty Sèvres biscuit sculptures of the eighteenth century. This aims to be a representative offering starting with early Boucher models, moving on to Falconet, the Bachelier interregnum, Boizot and Leriche, and into the Revolutionary period.
For this year’s event we are in a new location, at 27 rue de Verneuil, near the corner of the rue de Beaune, courtesy of BJF gallery and Mr. José Alcantara.
Please save these dates, Tuesday 22 to Sunday 27 September.
We look forward to seeing you then!
